Freezer and cooler door replacement.

A cooler or freezer door at the end of its life, replaced with a door we supply: swing, slide, bi-parting, high-speed or blast-freezer.

Installed by our crews, or supplied material-only to the contractor on the job.

When a cold door stops sealing.

A cold door that no longer seals is refrigeration leaking out of the room every hour. Frost at the gasket, a door that binds, a heater that has quit: by the time it shows, the door has usually been costing money for a while.

Parts are the other problem with an old door. An updated contactor with no wiring diagram for the door it has to go into can be impossible to find. Age alone does not decide it: some freezer doors from the 1960s are still in service.

Do not bypass the safety cutouts to keep an old door running. It is an OSHA violation, and a newer door will not allow it. It stays open.

Before you replace an iced-up door, check these.

Heat trace

Where does it run, in the frame or on the back of the door? And is it working?

Daylight at the seals

Close the door and look for light around the gaskets. If you can see light, air is getting in.

Stay rollers

Check their adjustment.

Plumb

A door out of plumb will not meet its seal all the way around.

Bi-parting seal

Where the two leaves meet, the seal has to be airtight.

Where we draw the line.

We replace cold doors with doors we supply, and we back what we sell. We do not run a general repair crew, install doors bought elsewhere or fix other contractors' work. Where a federal inspection citation puts a food plant's processing at risk, we will review it and may remediate. Repairs are quote-based and scoped to the product lines we sell or service. Call the office and ask for Don Ross.

Questions buyers ask

Do you replace freezer doors you did not originally supply?

Yes, with a door we supply. We look at the opening and quote the replacement. We do not install a door bought elsewhere, and we do not fix other contractors' work.

Do you repair freezer doors?

No general repair crew. Repair only where a federal inspection citation puts food processing at risk, quoted and scoped to the product lines we sell or service. Call the office and ask for Don Ross.

Why is my freezer door icing up?

Check where the heat trace runs, in the frame or on the back of the door, and whether it works. Look for daylight at the seals. Check the stay-roller adjustment, that the door hangs plumb, and on a bi-parting door that the center seal is airtight.

Can I bypass the safety cutout on a freezer door?

No. Bypassing safety cutouts is an OSHA violation. Newer doors are built so it cannot be done, and they stay open instead.

How do I know if a freezer door needs replacing?

Frost or ice at the gasket that the checks above do not cure, a door that binds or drifts, a heater that has failed, or parts you can no longer get. Send photographs and we will tell you what we see.

Can a door problem actually be a floor problem?

Yes. If the slab under a freezer heaves, openings move with it and doors stop sealing. A new door will not fix a moving floor, and we will tell you if that is what is happening.
