Swing cooler and freezer doors, single or double leaf.
Hinged cooler and freezer doors for people, carts and the way out of the room. One leaf for a personnel opening, two leaves for a wider one, each built to the opening it closes.
Installed by our crews, or supplied material-only to the contractor on the job.

When a hinged door beats a slider.
A swing door is the people door. It goes on a walk-in, on a personnel opening beside the dock, and on the way out of a room.
It needs no wall beside the opening, because the leaf swings out into the room. It does need clear floor in front of it, as wide as the leaf.
Where forklifts and pallets go through all shift, a slide or high-speed door usually does the job better. We will tell you which.
What decides the door.
One leaf or two
One leaf covers a personnel opening. Two leaves, hung on opposite jambs, cover a wider opening. Each leaf is narrower, so it swings through less of the aisle.
Heat at the seals
On a freezer door, heater cable runs in the sides and head of the frame and the bottom of the door, where the gasket meets it. When the heat fails, ice builds at the gasket and the door stops sealing.
The iced-up door checklistGetting out
The latch releases from the inside, even when the outside is padlocked. The hinges rise as the door opens, so it settles shut under its own weight.
Wash-down
Stainless cladding on the door and frame for rooms washed down every shift. For wet and corrosive rooms, Jamison also builds a molded fiberglass door, the Jamocor.

Send three things.
The clear opening, the temperature on each side, and what goes through it: people, carts or pallets. A photograph of the old door and frame tells us the rest. If a slider fits the opening better, we will say so.
Questions buyers ask
When should a cooler get a swing door instead of a sliding door?
When the traffic is people and carts, or there is no wall beside the opening for a slider. A swing door needs clear floor in front of it instead. For forklift traffic, a slide or high-speed door usually works better.
Can I get a two-leaf cooler or freezer door?
Yes. Two leaves hung on opposite jambs cover a wider opening. Jamison builds its Jamofoam I door single-leaf or bi-parting, up to 8 ft wide and 14 ft high.
Why does my freezer swing door ice up at the gasket?
Check two things first: the heat in the frame, and whether the door still hangs plumb. Then close the door and look for daylight at the gasket.
Can a walk-in freezer door be opened from the inside?
Yes. The swing freezer doors we specify release from the inside, even with a padlock on the outside.
Do you install swing cooler and freezer doors?
Yes. Our crews install them, or we supply the door material-only to your contractor.
What do you need to quote a swing door?
The clear width and height, the wall thickness, the temperature on each side and what goes through the door. Photographs of the old door and frame help.
