Custom laminated panels built around the application.
A panel laminated to order: the face chosen for the room, the substrate for the job.
D.W. Ross supplies laminated panels; the contractor doing the work installs them.
Which face material?
Made on our own line: your skin, your core, your dimension.
The face is chosen for what the room does to it. What sits behind it is the other half of the decision.
Contractors, builders and project buyers work with D.W. Ross out of 3195 West 63rd Street on Cleveland's west side. Material for Cleveland, Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio jobs is quoted, ordered and picked up or delivered from here.
Five cores.
Foam
Where the panel has to insulate as well as face a wall, and weight matters.
Plywood
A structural core that takes a fastener anywhere and carries its own stiffness.
OSB
The same job as plywood where cost leads and the face is doing the finishing.
Gypsum board
A drywall core, for interior partitions and ceilings that still need a finished, wipeable face.
Fluted polypropylene
A fluted plastic core: the light one. A large panel a person can carry and a saw can cut.
We have not printed a grid of which face goes on which core, because that is the part worth a phone call. Say what the panel has to survive and what it has to carry, and we will pair them.
Where panelized systems go.
Sanitary and wash-down interiors
Rooms that get hosed down and have to dry hard and clean.
Wash-down walls · Wainscot · Scuff-resistant liners · Ceiling panels
Food and cold-storage environments
The panelized side of the same work the temperature-controlled lane does in full envelopes.
Cooler panels · Freezer rooms · Food-processing plants · Commercial kitchens · Supermarket back-of-house
Clean rooms and laboratories
Controlled interiors where the wall surface is part of the specification.
Clean rooms · Laboratories · Technical and equipment rooms
Agricultural and animal confinement
Interiors that have to survive constant moisture and cleaning.
Animal confinement · Milking parlors · Cheese plants · Farm buildings
Transportation and trailer lining
Panel stock cut and laminated for vehicles rather than buildings.
Refrigerated trucks · Trailer lining · Transportation panels
Institutional and commercial interiors
High-traffic public interiors where the wall takes the wear.
Schools and cafeterias · Partitions · Correctional facilities · Car wash interiors
Showers, restrooms and protective liners
Wet rooms, and surfaces whose only job is to protect what is behind them.
Shower panels · Restroom panels · Slat wall · Fascia · Sign blanks · Custom ceiling tiles
Laminated to the job, not to a shelf.
Let us design a custom panel to meet your needs.
A laminated panel is built for the job rather than pulled from a shelf: the face chosen for what the room does to it, the substrate for what the panel has to carry. The room, the loading and what the surface has to survive are the three answers the design starts from.
Plenums
Panel built for the air path itself, where the surface has to stay clean and the assembly has to hold its shape.
Air returns
The return side of the same problem, fabricated to the opening rather than adapted to it.
Fascias
Finished faces where the panel is what people see, and it still has to survive the weather or the wash-down behind it.
Highly corrosive environments
Rooms that attack an ordinary face. The substrate and the facing are both selected for the specific condition. Say what is in the air and on the walls and we will go from there.
Chemical resistance depends on what is actually present, at what concentration and temperature. We will not quote a blanket resistance claim, and we will not stand on somebody else’s test sheet; we will look at the room.
Looking for Durostone® sheet for solder pallets or electrical parts? That is a composite laminate rather than a panel laminated to order, and we supply it: Durostone composite laminate.
How we make a laminated panel.
The substrate runs through a roller that lays the glue on at a precise thickness. With a moisture-cured urethane, the line then sprays moisture over the glue. The face goes on top, FRP or aluminum or whatever the panel calls for, and the panel sits in the press until the glue sets. The glue changes with the panel. This is our own shop, photographed decades ago and printed in black and white.
