Windows supplied for Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.

Vinyl, thermally broken aluminum and aluminum-clad wood, supplied to the job. Start with what the window has to do.

D.W. Ross supplies windows; the contractor doing the work installs them. If you don’t have an installer, we can recommend one from our list of trusted contractors.

First question

What kind of window are you looking for?

The form does most of the work: how it seals, whether it can stay open in weather, and whether anything swings into the room. All of these are available across the lines we carry.

Double-hung

Both sashes slide up and down, and both tilt in.

The default in most American houses, and the one you can wash from inside on an upper floor.

Choose the frame material.

WindowsVinyl

Vinyl covers more ground than people expect. There is a straightforward rental-grade window, there is an upper-end one, and there is fully custom. Same material, three very different conversations. Pricing is competitive enough that customers drive in from other states for it.

For apartment turns, rental portfolios and investors renovating for resale, where the window has to be right and the number has to work.

Heavier extrusion and better hardware when the building deserves more than the base product but the budget is not open-ended.

Built to the opening rather than to a size chart, including openings in older homes where true historic windows are out of reach.

Different color outside than inside, and colors well beyond a short standard palette. We can match from a Sherwin-Williams color number. A Roycroft Red exterior with a white interior is a real example, on an older home where historic windows priced out.

A common misconception

A sliding patio door is sold as a window.

Most people assume anything you walk through is a door. In this trade a sliding patio unit is ordered like a window, and a full-glass door that swings on hinges is a door. Transoms and sidelites are glass either way. If what you are picturing is mostly glass in a frame, it is on this page; doors that hang on hinges are on Doors.
