The openings, the window forms and the building. Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Look at what covers the wood outside.

Each of these makers puts wood on the inside of its clad-wood lines. They differ on the outside: aluminum, vinyl or fiberglass, depending on the line.

Sierra Pacific uses extruded aluminum. It says that aluminum is twice as thick as roll-form cladding.

What each maker publishes about the outside.

  • Sierra Pacific

Start with the openings, not the brand.

Send the sizes, the window forms and the building. We quote Sierra Pacific aluminum-clad wood. If vinyl or thermally broken aluminum suits an opening better, we say so.

Does D.W. Ross sell Andersen, Marvin or Pella windows?

No. We do not sell Andersen, Marvin or Pella windows, and we are not a dealer for any of them. Our aluminum-clad wood line is Sierra Pacific, and D.W. Ross is a Sierra Pacific dealer.

What is the difference between extruded and roll-form aluminum cladding?

Extruded aluminum is pushed through a die into a shaped profile. Roll-form cladding is sheet aluminum bent to shape. Sierra Pacific says its extruded aluminum is twice as thick as roll-form cladding.

Is a vinyl or fiberglass exterior the same as aluminum-clad wood?

No. Each maker covers the wood with its own material. Andersen's 400 Series has a vinyl exterior, and Marvin's Elevate has an Ultrex fiberglass exterior. Read each maker's published materials for the line you are pricing.

Which clad-wood window is the best?

We do not rank other makers' windows. We sell Sierra Pacific, and its glass can generally be swapped without replacing the sash. That matters twenty years in.

Do you install the windows?

No. We supply them; the contractor doing the work installs them. If you don't have an installer, we can recommend one from our list of trusted contractors.
