Steel conducts.
Many old warehouse windows are single panes set in putty in a steel frame. The steel carries the cold through to the inside.
Moisture condenses on the glass. Over time the condensation rusts the grid that holds the glass.
A thermally broken aluminum frame has a break between its inside and outside aluminum. The frame stops carrying the cold.
Keeping the look of the building.
Applied grids
An insulated unit is one pane, not dozens. A grid applied to the outside of the glass gives the look of the old panes.
Sight lines
We keep the grid lines as close as we can to the original ones.
Glass
Low-E, argon-filled insulated glass.
