Bi-parting freezer and cooler slide doors.

Power-operated bi-parting and single-slide freezer and cooler doors: two leaves from the center for wide openings and traffic that has to keep moving.

Installed by our crews, or supplied material-only to the contractor on the job.

For openings a swing door cannot cover.

A horizontal slide door is the everyday answer for a wide cold opening. Bi-parting splits the travel between two leaves, so each leaf moves half the distance and the opening clears in half the time.

On a freezer, heat runs the top, the sides, the lead edges and the bottom of the door, because on a slide door the lead edge is a sealing surface as well as an opening one.

What decides the door.

Wall beside the opening

A slide door needs wall for its leaves to travel into. Bi-parting needs it on both sides; single-slide on one.

Traffic

Forklifts, pallet jacks and people move at different speeds. The door's activation and safety devices are chosen for what actually goes through.

Room temperature

A cooler and a freezer take different cores and different heat at the seals. The room's design temperature comes first.

Cladding

Stainless, stucco aluminum, galvanized or painted galvanized, including cladding for inspected meat plants.

Horizontal slide, manual or power-operated: the specification.

An extruded aluminum structure clad in steel over a polyurethane core — the aluminum frame is what lets the leaf stay flat and true at fourteen feet. On a freezer, heater cable runs the top, the sides, the lead edges and the bottom, because on a slide door the lead edge is a sealing surface as well as an opening one.

On a freezer door the disconnect switch is not supplied with the door, and the frame is drilled on site rather than at the factory. Both are the installer's scope and both are worth pricing before the door lands.

Construction and performance figures are the manufacturer's published data for these assemblies. We confirm them against current product data on every job before anything is ordered.

Width, height, room temperature, the wall on each side and what comes through it. We will tell you whether bi-parting, single-slide or a different family belongs there.

Questions buyers ask

When is a bi-parting door better than a single-slide door?

When the opening is wide and traffic cannot wait. Two leaves each travel half the distance, so the opening clears faster, but it needs wall on both sides for the leaves to travel into.

Are bi-parting doors available for freezers?

Yes. Freezer configurations carry heat at the top, the sides, the lead edges and the bottom of the door, where the seals have to keep working at freezer temperature.

What activates a power-operated slide door?

Radio control, a push button, a floor loop or a motion detector, with a reversing edge, electric eye or motion detector for safety. We choose them against the traffic.

Do you install bi-parting freezer doors?

Yes, our crews install them, or we supply the door material-only to your contractor. Either way we size the door before anything is ordered.
