High-speed roll-up doors for coolers and freezers.

High-speed fabric roll-up doors for cooler and freezer openings that cycle all shift and cannot afford to stand open. Freezer-rated configurations, supplied in Ohio and outside it.

Installed by our crews, or supplied material-only to the contractor on the job.

Why speed matters on a cold opening.

Every second a cold room is open is load on the system. On a busy dock, a slow door can be the largest single load there is.

A high-speed door opens fast and closes slower, on purpose. The curtain has a soft bottom edge and no rigid beam, safety eyes watch the opening, and the motor senses load and reverses if the curtain comes down on something. Struck hard, the curtain releases from its guide and resets itself on the next cycle.

What to plan around it.

Insulation

A 6-inch solid freezer door is about R-48. A high-speed door is two layers of fabric.

Shutdowns

For holidays and long closures, we recommend a manual swing or slide door in the same opening.

Heavy tow-motor traffic

Where forklifts run through an opening all day, a heated air vestibule does the job with no door in the way. It is expensive, and it works.

Wash-down rooms

Stainless side frames, header, covers and control enclosure for rooms cleaned every shift.

High-speed fabric roll-up: the specification.

A reinforced PVC curtain with a soft weighted bottom edge, running in a self-lubricating track on galvanized or stainless side frames. There is no rigid bottom beam and no metal inside the curtain, which is what makes it both safe to be hit by and cheap to recover from: struck hard, the curtain releases from the side guide and resets itself on the next cycle instead of tearing.

The specification sheet covers ambient through cooler service. Freezer-rated configurations exist and are specified separately — ask for the room's design temperature first, not the door size.

Construction and performance figures are the manufacturer's published data for these assemblies. We confirm them against current product data on every job before anything is ordered.

Start with the cycle count.

How often the opening cycles, the room's design temperature and what goes through it decide the door. The size comes after.

Questions buyers ask

Are high-speed roll-up doors available for freezers?

Yes. Freezer-rated configurations exist and are specified separately from cooler doors, with heated side frames. We start from the room's design temperature.

Does a high-speed door replace a solid freezer door?

Not for insulation. A 6-inch solid freezer door is about R-48; a high-speed door is two layers of fabric. On a freezer we recommend a manual swing or slide door in the same opening for holiday shutdowns.

What happens when a forklift hits a high-speed door?

The curtain has a soft bottom edge and no rigid beam. Struck hard, it releases from the side guide and resets itself on the next cycle rather than tearing. The motor also senses load and reverses if the curtain closes on something.

Is there an alternative to a door on a busy freezer opening?

A heated air vestibule, where tow-motor traffic is heavy. It is expensive and effective.

How big can a high-speed fabric door be?

The door family we specify runs up to 26 by 26 feet. Larger or unusual openings are a conversation with us before anything is quoted.

Do you supply high-speed doors outside Ohio?

Yes. We supply them outside Ohio as well as here. Call and describe the job.
