FRP wall panels for commercial kitchens and food plants.

A wipeable, non-absorbent wall for rooms that are cleaned harder than they are used: commercial kitchens, food processing rooms and wash-down aisles. Supplied from Cleveland.

D.W. Ross supplies FRP; the contractor doing the work installs it.

Which wall for which room.

FRP is the wall for a kitchen, or a food plant room, that is washed down but not held cold. It takes steam and high-pressure washing, and trim closes every edge.

A cooler or freezer gets an insulated panel instead. A room that is wet all day and can be white can take an interlocking PVC panel, with fewer seams.

An inspector looks at the finished room: the joints, the corners and how it cleans. No panel passes a kitchen by itself.

What to settle before you order.

  • Fire class

The building code sets the fire class for the room, and your architect or code official names it. Settle it first, because it narrows the colors.

  • Color

White is the default. Black FRP goes behind bars and mop sinks, where white shows every splash.

    Colored FRP panels
  • Trim

Inside and outside corners, division bars and caps, in vinyl matched to the panel, or aluminum where carts hit the corner.

    FRP trim and moldings
  • The floor joint

A PVC base cove closes the corner between wall and floor, so it can be cleaned instead of scrubbed. It is bonded to the floor, so plan it with the floor.

  • Sheet or prelaminated

A prelaminated panel arrives with the FRP face already bonded to plywood, OSB, gypsum board or foam, and goes up as one piece.

    Prelaminated FRP panels

Four walls, by room.

FRP, prelaminated FRP and UtiLite are supplied only. The insulated panel is the one wall here our crews can install.

Is FRP good for commercial kitchen walls?

Yes. It is a non-absorbent, wipeable surface that takes steam and high-pressure washing. The joints and corners still need trim, and the floor joint needs a cove.

Does FRP meet the health code?

The inspector judges the finished room, not the panel. Ask your local health department what it wants on the walls. We supply the panel, the trim and the base cove.

What fire class does a kitchen wall need?

Your building code and code official decide. The FRP we supply comes in Class A and Class C fire ratings, and Class A has fewer colors.

FRP or an insulated panel for a food plant room?

FRP for a room at room temperature. An insulated panel for a cooler, a freezer or a room held at a set temperature.

What is the difference between FRP and UtiLite?

FRP is fiberglass sheet, and it comes in colors. UtiLite is an extruded PVC panel with tongue-and-groove edges, and it comes in white only.

What sizes does FRP come in?

Sheets 4 ft wide and 8, 9, 10 or 12 ft long, and a 4 by 50 ft coil, all .090 in. thick.

Do you install FRP?

No. We supply the FRP, the trim and the base cove; the contractor doing the work installs them.
