A prelaminated panel goes up as one piece, with the sanitary face already bonded to its core.

A structural core that takes a fastener anywhere and carries its own stiffness.

The same job as plywood where cost leads and the face is doing the finishing.
FRP on gypsum board
A drywall core, for interior partitions and ceilings that still need a finished, wipeable face.

Where the panel has to insulate as well as face a wall, and weight matters.

A light panel with the fiberglass face factory-bonded to a fluted core. It looks like an interlocking panel from the side, but the edge is a plain cut edge.
